Axinite
Pleochroic Axinite from Skardu Valley Pakistan. It’s rare to find crystals of axinite available, much less with this quality of luster and clarity. Pleochorism is also a very rare phenomenon! We recommend mounting this with putty on the Small Acrylic Base as pictured, both included with purchase. Size of the base is 1” x 1”.
Axinite is a rare borosilicate mineral, often prized for its unique crystal structure and glassy luster. Its crystals typically form in wedge-like shapes with sharp, well-defined edges, and it exhibits a rich range of colors, including shades of brown, violet, blue, and reddish hues. Axinite’s transparency and pleochroic properties (changing color when viewed from different angles) add to its appeal as a collector’s specimen. It is commonly found in metamorphic rocks, particularly in regions with high-pressure, low-temperature environments, like certain hydrothermal and skarn deposits.
