Goboboseb Smoky Amethyst with Analcime - Chevron Zoning, Tabby DT
Check out this top quality smokey amethyst. The color zoning manifests in a chevron/phantom shape, creating a great display to behold. If inspected closely, the crystal is doubly terminated, with a natural tip at both ends. The overall shape is also tabular, getting very flat on one end. There is a drusy coating of analcime, topping the incredible piece with a glitzy and high-luster finish.
As with all of our minerals, no two pieces are alike, offering a truly one-of-a-kind gift for mineral collectors, Minecraft fans, geologists, and rockhounds alike. This smokey amethyst is from Goboboseb Mountains, Erongo, Namibia. Pictured on our medium adjustable stand, which is included with purchase.
About Amethyst
Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz, and probably the most recognizable and commonly collected mineral on earth. Most amethyst comes from the prolific amethyst mines in Brazil, but can also be found in many other countries such as Mexico, China, Uruguay, USA, Turkey Canada, India, Zimbabwe, and more. The color comes from iron impurities and natural radiation. It can come in a wide variety of shades of purple, and can also occur with other associated minerals, notably calcite. The incredible calcite and amethyst combos from Uruguay are, in our opinion, some of the most incredible mineral specimens to collect and treasure. You can find multiple examples of amethyst in our online shop!
